Purple Knights Move Up To Number Seven In Final NCAA Regional Rankings Of 2022

Indianapolis, Indiana-The University of Bridgeport softball team has moved up one spot to number seven in the list of ten teams ranked in the third and final NCAA Division II Regional Rankings of the 2022 season released on Wednesday afternoon.

Each of the eight NCAA Division II softball regionals this season will be made up of eight teams this season that will play in two four-team regionals followed by a super-regional to determine the teams that will advance to the NCAA Division II Finals.

Listed from the East Region are (with team records through Sunday, May 1 with overall record first followed by in-region record):

1-Adelphi (39-11, 36-6)
2- Georgian Court (35-13, 33-7)
3- Caldwell (34-13, 34-10)
4- Wilmington (Del.) (31-17, 28-12)
5- Saint Anselm (27-14, 22-8)
6- Franklin Pierce (23-9, 23-9) 
7-Bridgeport (33-14, 29-12)
8-Pace (27-18, 225-17)
9-St. Thomas Aquinas (27-19, 26-17)
10-Southern New Hampshire (22-19-1, 21-11-1)

The NCAA will release the final field of eight for each NCAA Regional on Monday, May 9 at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time.

Head coach Dawn Stearns and her team are back in action on Friday at 10:00 a.m. when they face St. Thomas Aquinas College in the Winners' Bracket of the 2022 East Coast Conference Championship Tournament.  The winner of the 2022 ECC Championship Tournament will receive and automatic bid to this year's NCAA Championship
