Clermont, Fla.-The University of Bridgeport softball team continued its torrid start to the 2019 campaign picking up two more victories on Thursday in Florida defeating Salem (W.Va.) University, 4-2, and topping California (Pa.) University, 9-1 in five innings. With the two wins, UB is now 10-2 overall, the best start ever under head coach Dawn Stearns.
Against Salem, senior Kamryn Beach (Tampa, Fla,) had three hits and junior Allison Luzzi (East Haven, Conn.) added two safeties to lead the Purple Knights' offense.
Sophomore Miranda Hillman (Placentia, Calif.) picked up the win in the pitching circle working 6 2/3 innings with four strikeouts, junior Ashley Eisnor (Medford, Mass.) record the final out in the game to earn the save.
Versus Cal. (Pa.), senior Jenna DiLorenzo (Woodbridge, Conn.) slammed a three-run homer, and Kamryn Beach gave UB the run-rule victory with a three-run blast in the bottom of the fifth.
After earning the save in Thursday's first game, Ashley Eisnor fired a complete game to notch the win fanning three Vulcans.
Up next, the UB softball team will conclude its Spring Break Trip to Florida with two game on Friday facing Ferris State and Slippery Rock.
