Clermont, Fla.-Pinching ruled the day on Friday, as the University of Bridgeport softball team closed out its 2018 Spring Trip to Florida by splitting two games, as the Purple Knights topped Millersville, 6-2, and lost to Lock Haven, 2-1. UB heads back north form the Sunshine State with an even 7-7 record.
In the win over Millersville, sophomore Ashley Eisnor (Medford, Mass.) picked up her third win of the season by firing a complete game in which she fanned five batters.
At the plate in Friday's opener, sophomore Allison Luzzi (North Haven, Conn.) continued to swing a hot bat going 4-for-4 with an RBI. Junior Kamryn Beach (Tampa, Fla.) and freshmen Elyssa Marmolejo (Rialto, Calif.), Kaira Ramon (Stamford, Conn.) plus Jordan Hillyer (Windham, N.H.) each had a run batted in for the winners versus Millersville.
In the loss to Lock Haven, senior hurler Amanda Staheli (Pecatonica, Ill.) was the hard-luck loser working a complete game, two-hitter in which both runs that scored against her were unearned. Kaira Ramon added two more hits against LHU.
