University Of Bridgeport Softball Team Shines In The Classroom
Purple Knights Post Second Highest Team G.P.A. In The Nation At Any Level Plus 17 Purple Knights Recognized With NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete Honors
Louisville, Ky.-The University of Bridgeport softball team excelled in the classroom during the 2014-15 academic year, as the Purple Knights earned the second highest team grade point average of any team at any level recognized by the National Fastpitch Coaches' Association (NFCA) with a Top-10 Academic Team Honor. The Purple Knights posted an impressive 3.771 team grade point average which trail only fellow NCAA Division member Adelphi University at any level, as the Panthers posted a 3.785 team G.P.A.

The NFCA also announced that 5,493 softball players across seven membership divisions earned NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2014-15 academic year.
NCAA Division I, with 1,554 honorees, had the most student-athletes with a 3.5 grade-point average or higher, while 1,018 in Division III earned recognition, followed by 833 Division II student-athletes. High School weighted and High School unweighted posted 691 and 627 honorees apiece. NAIA amassed 410 recipients and Junior College totaled 360.
17 of the 19 players on the University of Bridgeport 2015 softball roster earned 2015 NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors.
