Flushing, N.Y.-It was a tough trip to New York City on Saturday for the University of Bridgeport softball team, as the Purple Knights were limited to only seven total hits on the day and one run scored, as the host Queens (N.Y.) College Knights took an East Coast Conference doubleheader sweep. QC won game one, 5-0, and completed the sweep with a 9-1 win in five innings in game two. UB is now 9-29 overall and 5-19 in conference play. Queens ups its overall record to 23-13, and the Knights are 15-3 in the ECC.
Senior Sydney Phillips (Sebastopol, Calif.) scored the team's lone run of the day on a Queens' error in the second inning of game two.
The UB softball team will step out of conference play on Sunday when they host the Ravens of Franklin Pierce University at 1:00 p.m. in Seaside Park.
