Softball Team Falls Twice To Molloy On Saturday
UB Will Be Right Back In Action On Sunday At Home Versus Mercy At 1:00 p.m.
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport softball team dropped both ends of a home East Coast Conference doubleheader to defending East Regional Champions the Molloy College Lions on Saturday afternoon, losing game one, 11-2 in five innings and falling in game two, 10-4. The Purple Knights are now 10-17 overall and 5-6 in conference play. The Lions up their overall record to 11-9, and the team is now 7-0 in the ECC.
In game one, junior Sydney Phillips (Sebastopol, Calif.) hit a two-run homer for UB's only runs in the opener.
In game two, Phillips homered again to give her a team-leading four, as she went 3-for-4 at the plate, and classmate Katelyn Wall (Madison, Conn.) also had three hits in the game. Freshman Ashley Hessler (Pawtucket, R.I.) also had two hits in the nightcap for Bridgeport.
The Purple Knights will look to get back in the win column with a quick turnaround, as the team host Mercy College in a single conference game that will begin at 1:00 p/m/ on Sunday.
