Purple Knights Drop Both Ends Of An ECC Softball Doubleheader To League-Leading Molloy On Tuesday Afternoon
UB Back in Action At Home On Thursday Afternoon Versus Dowling
Stratford, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport softball team lost both ends of an East Coast Conference doubleheader to league-leading Molloy College on Tuesday afternoon, as the Lions blanked the Purple Knights, 2-0, in game one, and completed the sweep with a 10-3 win in the nightcap. UB is now 11-18 overall and 4-9 in conference action. Molloy raises its overall record to 28-6 and remains atop the ECC standings with an 11-1 mark.
In the opener, Bridgeport was limited to only three hits; one of which was a double by freshman McKenzie Shea (Spokane Valley, Wash.).
In the second game, sophomore Sydney Phillips (Sebastopol, Calif.) went 2-for-3 with two runs batted in, and graduate student Emma Wojcik (Warsaw, Poland) added two hits.
The UB softball team will take Wednesday off before returning to action on Thursday afternoon with a home ECC doubleheader versus Dowling College. First pitch at DeLuca Field in Stratford is set for 3:00 p.m.
