Softball Falls Twice To AIC
Purple Knights Open ECC Play On Saturday Versus Queens
West Haven, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport softball team saw its season record dipped to 5-9 on Tuesday afternoon, as the Purple Knights were swept in a non-conference doubleheader by the American International College Yellowjackets. AIC won game one, 6-1, and completed the sweep with a 5-2 victory in the nightcap. AIC is now 4-9 on the season.
In the opener, UB was limited to only four hits, and freshman Kelly Olencki (Milford, Conn.) drove in the Purple Knights' lone run.
In the nightcap, AIC pitching again was strong as Bridgeport mustered six hits. Sophomore Taylor McBeth (Langley, BC, Canada) drove in both UB runs with a ground out and an RBI triple.
Bridgeport is back in action on Saturday afternoon, March 26th when the Purple Knights open East Coast Conference play by hosting Queens (N.Y.) College. Action is set to get underway at 1:00 p.m.
