XC Teams Take Seventh Place At Vassar's Ron Stonitsch Invitational
Purple Knights Back In Action On September 30 At Lehigh's Paul Short Run
Poughkeepsie, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport cross country teams were in action for the second time during the 2023 season competing in Saturday's the Ron Stonitsch Invitational hosted by Vassar College and both squads finished the morning with seventh place finishes.
In the men's 6K event, freshman Tayshaun Bookal (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was Bridgeport's top finisher for the second straight week crossing the line in a time of 27:18.7 placing him in 39th scoring position and 78th overall. Classmate John Panzera (Haddam, Conn.) was UB's second finisher at Vassar turning in a tome of 28.23.3 which put him in scoring place 41 and 82nd overall.
For the Purple Knights women's squad, as they did in the season opener at Adelphi, sophomore Emilia Russell (Kingston, U.K.) was the team's top finisher, as she covered the 5K course in a time of 24:43.0 which placed her in the 25th scoring place (52nd overall), and she was followed Emily Stuart (Rising Sun, Md.) who finished in a time of 26:22.1 which put her in the 31st scoring spot and 56th overall.
The UB XC teams will return to action on September 30 when the Purple Knights take part in the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University.
