Purple Knights Race At Sunday's 2022 CACC Cross Country Championship Meet
UB Women Take Seventh Place And Men Finish In The 13th Spot
Philadelphia, Pa.-The University of Bridgeport cross country teams took part in the 2022 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference hosted by Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia's Belmont Plateau Park on Sunday morning, and the UB women took seventh place in their 11-team event with 194 points, and the Bridgeport men finished 13th out of 13 teams on the day. Felician won the CACC women's title with 36 points, and Georgian Court took first on the men's side with a score 59 points.
For the Bridgeport women, senior Alexandra Toth (Sandy Hook, Conn) was the team's top finisher over the demanding 5K course in a time of 22:06.4 which put her in 21st place, just six spots away from All-Conference honors. UB's next finisher was freshman Emily Chase (Wallingford, Conn.) in 31st with a time of 23:00.7, and fellow first-year Emilia Russell (Kingston, U.K.) rounded out the top three Bridgeport female finishers taking the 41st scoring position in a time of 24:13.0.
On the men's side, freshman Luke Downes (Clarkrange, Tenn.) was the top Purple Knights' finisher over the 8K course in a time of 43:55.6, which put him in 67th place. Classmate Tydus Vongsiri (Woonsocket, R.I.) was the next finisher for the UB men taking the 70th spot in a time of 46:21.6.
Up next for the UB cross country teams will be this season's NCAA Regional hosted by Adelphi University on November 19.
