UB Cross Country Teams Ready For This Sunday's 2022 CACC Championship Meet
Event Will Take Place At Philadelphia's Belmont Plateau Park
Bridgeport, Conn.-This Sunday, October 30, the University of Bridgeport cross teams will travel to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for the 2022 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship Meet hosted by Thomas Jefferson University in Belmont Plateau Park.
Championship Sunday will get underway with the men's 8K race at 9:00 a.m. followed by the women's 5K at 10:00 a.m.
The CACC women's race figures to ultra-competitive featuring a pair of regionally ranked squads in Felician and host Jefferson.
Summing up his thoughts for about the Purple Knights' first-ever CACC Cross Country Championship Meet, head coach Gregg Schmidt stated. "Our main goal this weekend is to come away with at least a few all-conference performances, if not some higher honors. All season long, we have raced against very strong competition, so this weekend the will actually be in a higher position than they've been all season, with some of our runners being in the lead pack of the race. Our athletes have had a steady progression all season so I am excited to see what they can do on a very challenging course at Belmont Plateau."
The UB women's cross country team heads into the CACC Championship after every runner turned in either a personal or season best at the Adelphi Short Course Meet on October 21.
Look for strong performances from senior Alexandra Toth (Sandy Hook, Conn,), a two-time CACC Honor Roll selection during the season, freshman Emily Chase (Wallingford, Conn.), last week's conference Rookie of the Week plus another first-year Emilia Russell (Kingston, U.K.). Junior Faith Hershberger and freshman Larissa Weber (Purgstall, Austria) figure to round out the Bridgeport women's top-five in the race.
