Track and Field Teams Compete at SCSU's William Sullivan Invitational

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Seeing their first action of 2024, the University of Bridgeport's men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed at the William Sullivan Invitational on Friday. The Purple Knights were one of nine total institutions at the event which was held at SCSU's James Moore Fieldhouse.
Women's Recap
Sophomore Emilia Russell led the way for Bridgeport with a pair of stellar performances. The England native tossed for third place in the shot put (10.72m) before winning the 800-meter with a time of 2:27.29.
Russell's score in the shot put served as a personal record while her mark in the 800-meter is an indoor PR.
Freshmen Kesiri Gonzales and Lynzie Lawton were also scorers for the Purple Knights on Friday. Gonzalez put together a seventh-place finish in the 200-meter (28.74) while Lawton secured eighth in the 300-meter (49.33).
Gonzalez's time of 28.74 in the 200-meter is now the Bridgeport school record in the event.
Men's Recap
Freshman John Panzera piloted the Purple Knights on the men's side. The rookie finished fourth in the high jump with a mark of 1.85 meters (collegiate best). He also registered a ninth-place effort in the long jump (5.86m).
Fellow freshmen Nick Migliarese and Damian Coles joined in with personal records of their own on Friday. Migliarese posted a sixth-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 6.13m (Indoor PR) while Coles tallied a sixth-place time of 23.9 in the 200-meter.
