Men's Lacrosse Earns a Trio of CACC Weekly Awards
Dewey Schoenfelder, Ryan Thomas and Peter Nazario took home Player of the Week, Defensive Player of the Week, and Goalkeeper of the Week accolades, respectively.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – After a 2-0 stretch last week, the University of Bridgeport's men's lacrosse team picked up three CACC weekly awards on Monday.
Dewey Schoenfelder, Ryan Thomas and Peter Nazario took home Player of the Week, Defensive Player of the Week, and Goalkeeper of the Week accolades, respectively.
Schoenfelder was sensational for a Bridgeport team that went 2-0 last week. He started with four goals and four assists in a win over STAC before scoring the game-winning goal in overtime to defeat D'Youville. All in all, Schoenfelder finished the week with six goals and seven assists.
On the other side of the ball, Thomas tallied a team-high six caused turnovers to go along with five ground balls. He led a defensive unit that allowed just seven goals in a win over STAC.
Speaking of defense, Nazario served as the Purple Knights' anchor in net. The senior captain totaled 21 stops in the two wins. He was especially impressive against the Spartans when he registered 16 saves in a 15-7 win.
The Bridgeport men's lacrosse team returns to action next Saturday at Molloy University.
