Men's Basketball Earns Decisive Win at Wilmington, 89-72
Tim Dawson tallied a trio of season highs courtesy of a 22-point, eight-rebound, six-assist performance.
WILMINGTON, Del. – Coming off a very solid mid-week win over Dominican, the University of Bridgeport's men's basketball team pulled out an 89-72 triumph at Wilmington on Saturday.
Senior Tim Dawson was sensational for the Purple Knights. The New Haven native tallied a trio of season highs courtesy of a 22-point, eight-rebound, six-assist performance.
To go along with Dawson's production, Bridgeport had four other players finish in double figures.
Seniors D'Andre Collins and Jayden Iturmendi each put in 14 on an efficient 9-of-13 from the floor. Malikai Delgado and Sam DeSouza, meanwhile, finished with 13 points and 12 points respectively.
DeSouza also racked up 10 rebounds, four assists and two blocks to signify his fourth double-double of the season.
Junior guard Nick Traill served as the main distributor for UB as he dished out a career-high 11 assists.
Bridgeport led the Wildcats through the final 38:13 of regulation. In fact, the Purple Knights would go on to lead by 12 at halftime and hold a double-figure edge across the majority of the second half.
Offensively, the Purple Knights finished an impressive 17-of-20 from the free-throw line. They also put together a 23-6 advantage in fastbreak points.
Bridgeport recorded another large rebounding margin in the form of 44-to-27. The Purple Knights are now slotted second in the CACC in total rebounds per game (40.6) this season.
