Three Purple Knights Earn Spots On 2022-23 CACC Men's Basketball All-Academic Squad
Ryo Kobayashi, Mason Williams And Taj Childes Recognized For Their Fine Performance In The Classroom And On The Court
New Haven, Conn.-Twenty-two (22) student-athletes on Tuesday were named to the 2022-23 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Basketball All-Academic Team, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. Ten of the 13 CACC schools that compete in the sport were represented on the All-Academic Team.
Chestnut Hill College and Thomas Jefferson University led the way with four honorees apiece while Bloomfield College and University of Bridgeport were next with three student-athletes making the squad.
NOTES ON ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
♦ Three student-athletes notched GPAs of 3.90 or higher including Nik Schlipf (Alliance University, 3.96 GPA), UB's Ryo Kobayashi (3.99) and his teammate Mason Williams (3.98)
♦ Eight student-athletes were placed on the academic team for the third time in their respective careers.
♦ Three were named to the CACC Men's Basketball All-Academic Team for the second time in their respective careers.
♦ Six of the eight teams to qualify for the CACC post-season tournament were represented on the all-academic team.
To be eligible for CACC All-Academic status, a student-athlete must: a) Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 at the end of immediate preceding term (may include summer for fall sport participants); b) Minimum of two semesters enrolled as full-time student at member institution; c) Student-athlete must be second year student-athlete at member institution.
