Purple Knights Return To Hubbell Gym On Friday To Face D'Youville
Flushing, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team suffered an 84-67 East Coast Conference road loss at Queens (N.Y.) College on Sunday afternoon. UB is now 9-16 overall and 6-10 in the ECC, as the Purple Knights have lost eight times in their last 10 outings. Queens is now 9-10 overall and 7-8 in conference play.
UB trailed by only six points at the half, 39-33, but the host Knights outscored the visitors, 45-34, in the second half to seal the win.
Three Bridgeport players reached double-digit scoring on Sunday led by sophomore D'Andre Collins (Newark, N.J.) with 15 points. Graduate student Nemanja Zubac (Becka Palanka, Serbia) and junior Ali Sumareh (Bronx. N.Y.), each netted 10 points for Bridgeport. Zubac led the Purple Knights on the glass grabbing seven rebounds.
Queens' Jayden Seraphin led all scorers in the contest with 17 points on the afternoon.
Up next, the UB men's basketball team will wrap up the regular season with a pair of home games next weekend beginning with a Friday afternoon make-up game against D'Youville College on February 25. Tip-time is slated for 1:00 p.m.
