Purple Knights Battle But Fall To ECC Men's Basketball Leader Daemen College On Saturday Afternoon
Three UB Players Reach Double-Digit Scoring Led By Mason Williams' 17 Points
Bridgeport, Conn.-Three players reached double-digit scoring, but it was not enough, as the short-handed University of Bridgeport men's basketball team fell to the East Conference-leading Daemen College Wildcats, 95-74, at home on Saturday afternoon. Bridgeport is now 8-13 overall and 5-7 in conference play. The Wildcats up their season record to 16-6, and DC remains unbeaten in the ECC at a perfect 13-0.
Junior Mason Williams (Philadelphia, Pa.) led the Purple Knights in scoring with 17 points, and he tied for the team-high in rebounding grabbing seven boards.
Graduate student Nemanja Zubac (Becka Palanka, Serbia) added 11 points, seven rebounds, four assists, two blocked shots and a steal for UB, and junior Ali Sumareh (Bronx, N.Y.) chipped in 10 points to round out the Bridgeport trio of double-figures scorers.
Andrew Sischo led four Wildcats in double figures with a game-high 18 points. Daemen was red-hot from the floor all game long connecting on 54.7 percent of its field goals (35-of-64), including hitting 14-of-27 three-point shots (51.9%).
Up next, the UB men's basketball team heads to our Nation's Capital on Wednesday night for an ECC tilt with the University of the District of Columbia. Tip-time is set for 7:00 p.m.
