UB Men's Hoops Edged By Queens At Home, 69-65
Four Purple Knights Reach Double-Digit Scoring Led By Mason Williams With 20 Points
Bridgeport, Conn.-A basket by Queens (N.Y.) College's William Ellis, who finished the game with a team-high 17 points, with 12 seconds to play snapped a 65-65 deadlock, and Ellis would then also knock down two free with three seconds remaining lifted the visiting Knights to a 69-65 East Coast Conference win over the host University of Bridgeport Purple Knights in an East Coast Conference men's basketball tilt on Thursday night in Hubbell Gym. UB is now 7-12 overall and 4-6 in conference play. QC moves to 6-5 overall and 4-3 in the ECC.
Junior Mason Williams (Philadelphia, Pa.) led all scorers in the game with 20 points. He was joined in double figures by sophomore D'Andre Collins (Newark, N.J.) who had a career-best 16 points, freshman Taj Chiles (Harlem, N.Y.) with 11 points and junior Malcolm Moye (Hartford, Conn.) with 10 points.
Graduate student Nemanja Zubac (Becka Palanka, Serbia) led UB on the boards with 10 rebounds and he also blocked five shots.
Up next, the UB men's basketball team is slated to be in action at Mercy College on Sunday afternoon for a 2:00 p.m. East Coast Conference tilt.
