Men's Basketball Battles But Settles For Western New York Split After Sunday Loss At Daemen
Tim Dawson Scores A UB Career-Best 23 Points Versus The Wildcats
Amherst, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team, who trailed by as many as 13 points in the first half, battled back to take five-point, 48-43, lead with 13:04 to play in the second half, but the host Daemen College Wildcats finished the game on an 18-6 run over the final 8:42 of action to post a 71-59 East Coast Conference win over the Purple Knights on Sunday afternoon in Western New York. UB is now 3-7 overall and an even 1-1 in conference play. Daemen evens its' season record at 5-5 and reamins unbeaten in the ECC at 3-0.
Sophomore Tim Dawson (New Haven, Conn.) led all scorers on the afternoon with a UB career-high 23 points, plus he grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
Dawson was joined in double-digit scoring by junior Malcolm Moye (Hartford, Conn.) with 12 points, and sophomore D'Andre Collins (Newark, N.J.) added 10 points for UB.
Kyle Harris led four players in double figures for the winners with 16 points.
Up next, the Bridgeport men's basketball team closes out its four-game road trip on Friday night with an ECC tilt versus St. Thomas Aquinas College. Tip-off in Sparkill, N.Y. is set for 7:30 p.m.
