Orangeburg, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team saw its early season record fall to 1-4 overall as the Purple Knights were defeated by the host Dominican (N.Y.) College Chargers, 103-83, in the final game of the 9th Annual Daniel Sullivan Tournament.
The Purple Knights Trailed 46-29 at the half and could come no closer than a none-point deficit in the second half.
Sophomore Tim Dawson (New Haven, Conn.) led UB in scoring on Sunday with 21 points, and he also pulled down six boards.
Junior Ali Sumareh (Bronx, N.Y.) also reached double digits for UB with 14 points.
Classmate Mason Williams (Philadelphia, Pa.) led Bridgeport on the glass with seven rebounds.
Dominican's Joshua Serrano led all scorers in the contest with 35 points of the Chargers' bench.
Up next, the UB men's basketball team will travel up Route 8 to face Post University in Waterbury, Conn. on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday's tilt will mark the second time the teams have faced each other this season, as the Eagles topped the Purple Knights in overtime in Hubbell Gym on the season's opening weekend.
