Senior Bakary Camara Named To First Team All-East Region D2CAA Men's Basketball Team
ECC Defensive Player of The Year Also Led UB In Scoring And Rebounding In 2019-20
WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Daemen redshirt-junior forward Andrew Sischo was named the East Region Player of the Year, for the second-straight season, headlining the 2019-20 NCAA Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (CCA) All-East Region Men's Basketball Team.
The East Coast Conference Player of the Year, Sischo led the Wildcats to a 24-8 overall record and an appearance in the NCAA East Region Tournament. For the season, Sischo averaged a double double with 24.9 points-per-game and 11.7 rebounds-per-contest. Sischo is a two-time All-East Region honoree earning First Team accolades following the 2018-19 season
Joining Reyes on the All-East Region First Team was Bridgeport's Bakary Camara (Harlem, N.Y.) the ECC Defensive Player of the ear, Stonehill's Will Moreton, the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year, Jefferson's Kylan Guerra, the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's Player of the Year, and Pace's Peyton Wejnert.
Wilmington's redshirt-senior Jermaine Head highlight's the All-East Region Second Team as a repeat honoree on the second team. Joining Head on the All-East Region Second Team is Bentley's Chris Hudson, Mercy's Bryan Griffin, Molloy's Nick Corbett and Saint Anselm's Chris Paul.
Sports Information Directors from NCAA Division II East Region schools and conferences selected the two All-Region teams. The process concludes with All-American selections announced in later this month. This is the second year the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association has sponsored the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball All-Region and All-American teams.
The Division II CCA encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
