Seniors Bakary Camara And D'Vonne Trumbo Honored For Their Outstanding Play Last Week
West Babylon, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball senior duo of Bakary Camara (Harlem, N.Y.) and D'Vonne Trumbo (Pilesgrove, N.J.) have been recognized for their fine play in games that took place from January 20 through 26, 2020 with weekly East Coast Conference awards. Camara has been selected as the ECC's Player of the Week, and Trumbo has been named the conference's Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. This week's recognition for Camara is the fourth time in 2019-20 that his fine play has been cited for a conference award, as he has now been named Player of the Week twice to go along with two Defensive Player of the Week nods.
Camara averaged a double-double on the week at 16.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game in a week that saw him tip in the game-winning basket at St. Thomas Aquinas on Wednesday and become the 32nd player in Bridgeport history to hit the 1,000 career point mark in Saturday's win at Mercy. On the week, he also added six assists, three steals and one blocked shot.
Trumbo helped UB to a pair of wins last week to run the team's winning streak to 12 games and the Purple Knights overall record to 16-2, as he averaged 8.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals per outing to go along with scoring 15.5 points and dishing off a total of six assists.
This week, UB will be in action at Queens (N.Y.) College on Saturday afternoon.
