Long Distance Shooting Helps UB Men To 79-70 Home Win Over Bentley
Purple Knights Knock Down 15 Three-Point Shots On Their Way To The Victory
Bridgeport, Conn.-Five players reached double-digit scoring and the University of Bridgeport men's basketball team connected on 15 three-point shots on the night, as the Purple Knights picked up a 79-70 home non-conference win over the visiting Bentley University Falcons on Wednesday in Hubbell Gym. With the victory, UB moves to 2-1 overall on the young season. Bentley is now 3-1 overall so far in 2019.
Sophomore Jayden Ituremendi (York, Pa.) led Bridgeport in scoring with 16 points off the bench, as he hit 6-of-8 field goals including going 4-of-5 from three-point range.
Jayden was joined in double figures by senior Bakary Camara (Harlem, N.Y.) with 14 points, junior Juan Coffi (Barcelona, Spain) with 13 points, and juniors Travis Robinson-Morgan (Elmont, N.Y.) and Hashem Abbas (Nablus, Palestine) each chipped in 10 points for the winners.
Abbas and Nemanja Zubac (Jr., Becka Palanka, Serbia) led the Purple Knights on the glass, as they each corralled seven rebounds.
Bridgeport did a fine job of taking care of the basketball on Wednesday night dishing off 19 assists while committing only nine turnovers. Bentley finished the contest with a total of 16 assists and 15 turnovers.
Up next, the UB men's basketball team will travel to Philadelphia, Pa. on Saturday afternoon to face the University of the Sciences. Tip-time is set for 3:00 p.m. in the City of Brotherly Love.
