Men's Basketball Sees Six-Game Winning Streak Snapped By LIU Post
Team Travels To UDC For 2016-17 Regular Season Finale On Saturday Afternoon
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team saw its six-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday night at home, as six members of visiting LIU Post Pioneers reached double-digit scoring in LIUP's 90-69 East Coast Conference win over the Purple Knights. With the loss, Bridgeport is now 17-10 overall and 12-5 in the ECC. The Purple Knights now must also win their regular season finale at the University of the District of Columbia on Saturday afternoon to guarantee themselves the number two seed and a bye into the semifinals of next week's East Coast Conference Championship Tournament that will played in UB's Hubbell Gym. The Pioneers are now 10-17 overall and 9-8 in conference action.
Junior Sam Joseph (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Purple Knights with a game-high 19 points.
Joseph was joined in double-figure scoring by seniors Kyle Benjamin (Bronx, N.Y.) with 12 points and Montana Mayfield (Philadelphia, Pa.) with 10 points. Benjamin finished with a double-double grabbing 10 rebounds.
Greg Dotson and Aary Bibens led LIU Post, as they each netted 18 points, and Bibens finished with a double-double snatching 10 rebounds.
