Bridgeport Men Right Back In Win Column With 76-70 ECC Road Victory Over Queens (N.Y.)
Team Continues Tough Five-Game Road trip At Southern Connecticut State On Tuesday Night
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team got right back in the win column on Monday night after suffering a tough loss at NYIT on Saturday, as the Purple Knights posted a 76-70 East Coast Conference road win over the host Queens (N.Y.) College Knights on Monday night in New York City. Bridgeport raced out to a 35-27 lead at the half and held on for the win in a make-up of game that was originally scheduled for January 16. UB is now 10-8 overall and 8-3 in the ECC. Queens falls to 5-12 overall and is 3-9 in conference action.
Bridgeport senior Ernest Rouse (Freeport, N.Y.) led a balanced Purple Knights' offensive attack with 17 points. Rouse was joined in double figures by three classmates, as Muhammed Ahmed (Bronx, N.Y.) had 15 points, Devon Elliott (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 14 points, and Eddie Asamoah (Calgary, Canada) had a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
UB's Jesse Jones (Sr., Irvington, N.J.) fell just shy of double-digit scoring connecting for nine points off head coach Mike Ruane's bench.
Paul Little led Queens with 14 points, and teammate Tyree White was just short of an impressive triple-double with 12 points, 12 assists and nine rebounds.
The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team is right back in action tomorrow night (Tuesday, February 2), when the Purple Knights step out of East Coast Conference play and head up I-95 to take on Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
