Fairfield, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team closed out its 2015-16 exhibition schedule with a 91-80 loss against the host Division I Fairfield University Stags in Alumni Hall on a steamy November Friday night.
Senior Jesse Jones (Irvington, N.J) led four Purple Knights in double figures with a team-high 26 points. Jones also grabbed seven rebounds.
Classmate Ernest Rouse (Freeport, N.Y.) chipped in 14 points for UB, and newcomer Muhammed Ahmed (Sr., Bronx, N.Y.) had 13 points and team for the team-lead with nine rebounds, and junior Montana Mayfield (Philadelphia. Pa.) added 12 points and dished out six assists.
Senior Eddie Asamoah (Calgary, Canada) also pulled doen nine boards for Bridgeport.
Up next, the Purple Knights open the 2015-16 regular season at home on Saturday, November 14th versus Southern New Hampshire. Game time in Hubbell Gym is set for 7:30 p.m.
