Men's Basketball Tames Golden Lions On The Road, 102-89
102 Points Are A Single-Game, Season High For The Purple Knights
Oakdale, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team never trailed on the evening, as the Purple Knights cruised to a high-scoring, 102-89, East Coast Conference road victory over the host Dowling College Golden Lions on Long Island on Tuesday night. With the win, UB is now 11-4 overall and 7-1 in conference play. Bridgeport has now won nine of its last 10 outings, and heads into Thursday night's game at Molloy on a two-game winning streak. DC slips to 6-9 overall and 4-4 in the ECC. Tuesday's 102 points mark the first time the Purple Knights have eclipsed the 100-point plateau in a game this season.
UB senior Willie Williams III (Norwalk, Conn.) led a balanced offensive attack for the winners that saw six players reach double-digit scoring with a game-high 21 points. Williams also recorded his seventh double-double of the 2014-15 season by grabbing a game-best 13 boards.
Joining Willie in double figures for the Purple Knights were Devon Elliott (Jr., Brooklyn, N.Y.) with 20 points, Jesse Jones (Jr., Irvington, N.J.) netted 18 points off the Bridgeport bench, Eddie Asamoah (Jr., Calgary, Canada) had 15 points and eight rebounds, Ernest Rouse (Jr., Freeport, N.Y.) added 12 points and senior Naqwan Crowell (Poughkeepsie, N.Y) contributed a double-double from his guard position with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Donte Adams and Ryan Hickey led the Golden Lions in scoring as they he netted 20 points.
UB shot the ball extremely well on Tuesday night hitting 56.1 percent from the floor (37 of 66) and 50.0 percent from three-point range (11 of 22).
