Strong Second Half Helps Men's Basketball To 74-64 ECC Road Win Over St. Thomas Aquinas
UB Now 4-3 Overall And 2-0 In Conference Play
Sparkill, N.Y.-Leading 40-37 at the half, the University of Bridgeport men's basketball team outscored the host St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans, 34-27, in the second half, as the Purple Knights posted a ten-point, 74-64, East Coast Conference road win on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, UB is now 4-3 overall and 2-0 in conference action. STAC is now 2-5 overall and 0-2 in the ECC.
UB junior Bryce Elie (Queens, N.Y.) led three Purple Knights in double-digit scoring with a game-high 19 points. Elie was joined in double figures by junior Ernest Rouse (Freeport, N.Y.) with 13 points, and senior Willie Williams III (Norwalk, Conn.) with 12 points, and he also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
Two Bridgeport players, junior Devon Elliott (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and senior Naqwan Crowell (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.), each fell just shy of double-figure scoring with nine points.
The Purple Knights survived 25 turnovers on the afternoon, as the shot well from the field connecting on 30 of 56 shots (53.6%).
The UB men's basketball team will look to run its winning streak to three and remain unbeaten in ECC play, when the squad is next in action at home on Saturday, December 13 versus the Mavericks of Mercy College. Tip-off is set for 3:00 p.m.
