Purple Knights Even Men's Basketball Record At 2-2 With 69-62 Home Win Over U. of the Sciences
Bryce Elie Leads The Purple Knights With 20 Points On The Day
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team evened its 2014-15 season record at 2-2 with a 69-62 home win over the previously unbeaten University of the Sciences Devils in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, USciences is now 3-1 on the year.
UB was strong on defense in Saturday's victory limiting the Devils to a shooting percentage of only 33.3 (19-of-57) and outrebounding the visitors, 43-28.
Junior Bryce Elie (Queens, N.Y.) led Bridgeport with a game-high 20 points on the afternoon, as he connected on 8-of-12 field goals including three shots from three-point range. Ellie also grabbed six rebounds for the winners.
UB junior Devon Elliott (Brooklyn, N.Y.) contributed 16 points and had three assists, two steals and a blocked shot on Saturday.
Senior Willie Williams III (Norwalk, Conn.) notched his second double-double of the young season scoring 10 points and corralling a game-high 14 rebounds for the Purple Knights.
Garrett Kerr led a pair University of the Sciences players in double-digit scoring 19 points in the loss.
Up next for the UB men's basketball team is a trip to Bentley University on Sunday, November 30. Tip-off is slated for 2:00 p.m.
