Men's Hoops Grabs Number Two Seed In ECC Championship Tournament With Wire-To-Wire, 95-63, Home Win Over UDC
Purple Knights Will Now Host An ECC Semifinal Contest On Friday, March 7 at 7:00 p.m.
Bridgeport, Conn. – The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team secured the number two seed in next week's East Coast Conference Championship Tournament with a wire-to-wire 95-63 home win over the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds on Saturday afternoon. The victory raises the Purple Knights overall record 16-10 and they finish the regular season at 14-6 in conference play. UDC ends its 201-3-14 campaign at 3-23 overall and 1-19 in the ECC.
Bridgeport now gets a bye into the ECC Championship Tournament semifinal which it will host this Friday night, March 7 against an opponent yet to be determine. Dowling College will be the number one seed in the ECC Championship Tournament and host the other semifinal.
Sean Berry (Sr., Irvington, N.J.) led a balance UB attack on Saturday recording a double-double with 16 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
Three other Purple Knights, senior JoJo Swift (Brooklyn, N.Y.), junior Antoine Brown (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and sophomore Ernest Rouse (Freeport, N.Y.) reach double-digit scoring, as they each netted 10 points.
Bridgeport senior Ivan Simic (Belgrade, Serbia) was just short of a double-double with nine points and seven rebounds.
UDC's Lenjo Kilo led all scorers on the day with 23 points.
