Men's Hoops Limited To Season Low 58 Points In ECC Road Loss Versus Molloy
Purple Knights Fall, 68-58, And Will Look To Get Back In Win Column At Home On Saturday Versus Queens
Rockville Centre, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team just could not find an offensive rhythm on Thursday night, as the Purple Knights scored a single-game, season low 58 points in a 68-58 East Coast Conference road loss against the host Molloy College Lions on Thursday night. UB has now alternated wins and losses in its last ten outings, and the Purple Knights are now 8-9 overall and 6-5 in conference play. Molloy raises its overall record to 11-8, and the Lions are 8-3 in the ECC.
The Purple Knights trailed 24-21 at the half, but Bridgeport opened the second 20 minutes of play on an 11-2 run to grab a 32-26 lead at the 17:09 mark. UB led 44-42 with 9:52 to play, but Molloy would then go on a 15-0 run over the next 6:06 of play to take a 57-44 advantage which they never relinquished.
Junior Sean Berry (Irvington, N.J.) notched a double-double for Bridgeport grabbing a game-high 19 rebounds and scoring 15 points. Senior teammates Ivan Simic (Belgrade, Serbia) and JoJo Swift (Brooklyn, N.Y.) also had 15 points on the night for the Purple Knights.
Molloy's John Petrucelli had a huge night for the winners fall just shy of a triple-double with 19 points, 11 rebounds and seven steals.
The UB men's basketball team is back in action at home on Saturday when they host Queens (N.Y.) College. Tip-off is slated in Hubbell Gym at 3:00 p.m.
