Men's Hoops Picks Up Sixth Win In Last Seven Games With 77-66 Victory At Queens (N.Y.) College
UB's Darian David Leads All Scorers On The Night With 25 Points
Flushing, N.Y.-For the second consecutive game, the University of Bridgeport men's basketball team stormed out to a big halftime lead (40-25) and then held on for the victory, as the Purple Knights posted a 77-66 East Coast Conference road win over the host Queens (N.Y.) College Knights in New York City on Wednesday evening. The Purple Knights, winners of six of their last seven games, are now 9-8 overall and 5-2 in the ECC. Queens falls to 2-11 overall and 2-4 in conference play. The Knights trailed by as many as 18 points, 50-32, in the second the half, but QC rallied to cut the Bridgeport lead to only five, 64-59, with 3:33 to play.
Bridgeport senior Darian David (Bronx, N.Y.) led all scorers on the night with 25 points, 14 of which came in the first half. David was joined in double-digit scoring by three teammates, as junior JoJo Swift (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had 15 points, senior Lloyd Antoine (Brooklyn, N.Y.) netted 12 points and senior Dion Waiters (Brooklyn, N.Y.) contributed 11 points and seven steals for UB. Senior Omari Howard (Bronx, N.Y.) led the Purple Knights on the boards with seven rebounds.
Queens was led by George Holmes and Patrick Parker, who each scored 17 points.
The UB men will look to run their winning streak to three this Saturday, January 19 when they host St. Thomas Aquinas College in an ECC affair. Tip-off is set for 3:00 p.m. in Hubbell Gym.
