Darian David Scores 19 Points But Men's Basketball Drops 77-69 Decision At Philadelphia University
Purple Knights Back In Action At Home On Wednesday Night Versus Post University
Philadelphia, Pa.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team never led in the contest, and the Purple Knights suffered their third straight loss, as UB fell in a non-conference game at Philadelphia University, 77-69, on Saturday afternoon. With the defeat, Bridgeport is now 2-4 overall. The Rams end a season-opening, five-game homestand at 4-1.
Philadelphia U. led, 35-26, at the half, and UB would close to within three, at 46-43, with 10:45 to play, but that was the closest the Purple Knights would come to Rams the rest of the afternoon, as they would put the game away with an 11-2 run over the next 4:48.
Senior Darian David (Bronx, N.Y.) led Bridgeport with 19 points, and he would also chip in four assists and two steals.
David was joined in double-figure scoring by junior Ivan Simic (Belgrade, Serbia) with 14 points, and Simic would add seven boards for UB.
Senior Omari Howard (Bronx, N.Y.) would lead the Purple Knights on the glass with eight boards.
Philadelphia U. freshman Peter Alexis led all scorers on the day and four Rams' in double figures with 25 points.
The UB men's basketball team returns home on Wednesday night (November 28), when the Purple Knights will look to snap their three-game losing skid against Post University. Game time in Hubbell Gym is set for 7:00 p.m.
