Caldwell Bests Men's Basketball, 72-66, In Non-Conference Action
Purple Knights Now 2-3 On The Young Season
Orangeburg, N.Y.-The Caldwell College Cougars outscored the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights, 16-9, over the final 6:57 of the game to post a 72-66 non-conference men's basketball win at the Daniel Sullivan Memorial Classic hosted by Dominican (N.Y.) College on Sunday afternoon. Both teams are now 2-3 overall on the season. Bridgeport had taken a 57-56 lead on a basket by senior Lloyd Antoine (Brooklyn, N.Y.) before the Cougars went on their game-winning run.
Junior Ivan Simic (Belgrade, Serbia) led the Purple Knights in scoring with 19 points on the afternoon. Simic was joined in double-digit scoring by senior Omari Howard (Bronx, N.Y.) who added 15 points and grabbed a team-leading eight rebounds along with Lloyd Antoine for UB.
Caldwell's Michael Balkovic led all scorers in the game with 22 points, and teammate Kevin Walker had a double-double for the winners with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
The Purple Knights will be back in action on Saturday, November 24, when they wrap up their three-game road trip at Philadelphia University. Game time in the City of Brotherly Love is set for 1:30 p.m.
