Game 1
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Playing in their first conference doubleheader of the season, the University of Bridgeport's baseball team dropped a pair of contests to Caldwell on Friday.
Game One – Caldwell 9, Bridgeport 6
A six-run fourth inning fueled the Cougars as they turned a 5-3 deficit into a 9-5 lead. A lead that they would not relinquish.
Offensively, it was a balanced attack for the Purple and White. In fact, nine different players combined for UB's 12 total hits. They also had five players each record RBIs.
Patrick Krempasky, Jeremy Rodrigues, and Sean Jefferson each had two hits in the game. Jefferson supplied the only extra-base hit with an RBI double in the eighth.
On the pitching side of things, UB's bullpen flourished. Sophomore Matt Wild rattled off three scoreless innings without allowing a hit. After walking two in the ninth, Wild was replaced by Tim Dolan.
Dolan went on to record a scoreless frame as well. Bridgeport's relief pitchers totaled four scoreless, hitless innings.
Game Two – Caldwell 3, Bridgeport 2 (7 Innings)
Krempasky added two more hits in the finale. He finished with half of UB'S total hits in the game as the Purple Knights tallied four singles.
Krempasky is now batting .338 this season with a team-best on-base percentage of .464.
It was another solid outing from the Bridgeport bullpen. Jonathan Siwiecki tossed a pair of scoreless innings in relief.
Bridgeport's four hits were combined with six walks. The Purple Knights left six runners on base.
