Bats Boom Big Time As Baseball Beats Dominican (N.Y.) College, 13-7
UB Bangs Out 18 Hits In The Contest
Bridgeport, Conn.-Every player in the University of Bridgeport batting order had at least one hit, as the Purple Knights had a total of 18 on the day, as UB picked up a 13-7 non-conference home win over the visiting Dominican (N.Y.) College Chargers on a windy and chilly Wednesday afternoon in Seaside Park. With the win, Bridgeport is now 17-24 overall. Dominican slips to 14-28 on the season.
Alex Rauso (Grad., Trumbull, Conn.) led the UB hit parade going a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with two runs batted in. Rauso was on base all five time he was up on Wednesday, as he also drew a walk.
Six Purple Knights, Michael Fletcher (Fr., Winter Park, Fla.), Jeremy Rodrigues (Fr., Monroe, Conn.), Conall Roberts (Grad., Mt. Laurel, N.J.), Anthony Pascale (So., Stony Brook, N.Y.), Craig Leonard (Sr., Holtsville, N.Y.) and Jay Hamilton (Fr., Long Beach, N.Y.), each had two hits in the win.
Hamilton also drove in three runs on the day.
On the mound, sophomore Jason Giambra (Milford, Conn.) ran his season record to 4-0 picking up the victory on Wednesday in relief, as he worked 3.2 innings allowing only one run on one hit with three strikeouts and just one walk.
Up next, the UB baseball team returns to East Coast Conference play on Friday, when the Purple Knights open a three-game weekend series against the College of Staten Island Dolphins with a home game beginning at 3:00 p.m.
