Purple Knights Play 9-9 Tie At Post University
Game Called After 12 Innings Of Play
Danbury, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport baseball team and the host Post University Eagles played to a 9-9 tie on Thursday afternoon in a no-conference game that was called after 12 innings of play. UB is now 9-17-1 overall, and Post is 10-11-1 overall so far in 2014.
The host Eagles scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to send the game into extra innings tied at nine.
Freshman Dylan Steigerwald (Holbrook, N.Y.) had three hits for UB, and classmate Matt Costleigh (West Islip, N.Y.) drove in three runs for the Purple Knights.
The Bridgeport baseball team returns to East Coast Conference play tomorrow (Friday, April 11) when UB open a four-game weekend conference series at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, New York. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
