UB Baseball Completes Spring Trip To Florida With 5-1 Loss To Stonehill
Purple Knights Return Home With A 5-2 Record
Ormond Beach, Fla.-The University of Bridgeport baseball closed out its 2011 Spring Trip to Florida with a 5-1 loss on Friday afternoon against the Stonehill College Skyhawks. The Purple Knights completed their seven-game stint in the Sunshine State with a 5-2 record. Stonehill is now 9-5 on the season.
UB split two games with the Skyhawks in Florida, an NCAA Tournament team last May and one of the East's Region's top-ranked teams, as they topped Stonehill, 7-5, earlier in the week.
Junior Eric Schlitter (Guilford, Conn.) drove in UB's lone run on Friday with a fourth inning ground out that plated senior Peter Barrows (Old Saybrook, Conn.).
Sophomore Chris Maull (Winslow, N.J.) took the loss on the mound for Bridgeport. Maull is now 0-1 on the young season.
The Purple Knights will open their East Coast Conference schedule this Wednesday afternoon (March 23) at 3:30 p.m. when they host Molloy College at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard.
