UB Volleyball Moves To 4-0 In Conference Play With A Four-Set Home Win Over Post University
Purple Knights Have Now Won Seven Of Their Last Eight Outings And Are 11-3 Overall
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team remained unbeaten in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play with a four-set, home win over the visiting Post University Eagles, 25-18, 25-16, 19-25, 25-22, on Wednesday night in Hubbell Gym. With the victory, the Purple Knights, winners of seven of their last eight matches, are now 11-3 overall and 4-0 in the CACC. Post falls to 2-11 overall, and the Eagles are an even 2-2 in conference play.
Bridgeport used a balanced offensive attack to earn Wednesday's win, as four Purple Knights led by freshman Hailey Jessen (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) with 14, notched double-digit kills.
Joining Jessen in double figures were classmate Grace Presswood (S. Dennis, Mass.) with 12, sophomore Lucia Tomiello (Caltrano, Italy) with 11 and graduate student Datari Mathis (Wethersfield, Conn.) with 10 kills respectively.
Presswood finished with a double-double, as she tied for the team led in digs with 13, and Tomeillo led the Purple Knights with six service aces, as UB totaled 17 aces on the night.
Junior setter Jaden Drollinger (Queens Creek, Ariz.) also had a double-double with 45 assists and 13 digs, plus she also chipped in three blocks for the winners.
Junior Paola Hernandez (Bayamon, P.R.) was solid on defense for Bridgeport with 12 digs, and libero Hailey Andrews (Southington, Conn.) had nine digs on the evening to go along with four assists and a service ace.
Post's Caley Harper led all players on the night with 15 kills.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball squad will open a two-match road trip and look to stay perfect in conference play when they travel to Lakewood, N.J. on Saturday to take on Georgian Court University on the Lions' home floor. First serve in the Garden State is set for 12 noon.
