Roll Continues As Volleyball Wins Eighth Straight With Four-Set Triumph At D'Youville
UB Now 16-8 Overall And 8-2 In The ECC
Buffalo, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team notched its eighth straight victory on Saturday afternoon, as the Purple Knights posted a four-set, 20-25, 25-11, 25-18, 25-20, East Coast Conference win over the host D'Youville College Saints to open a weekend road swing to Western New York. Bridgeport is now 16-8 overall and 8-2 in the ECC. D'Youville falls to 3-21 overall and 2-9 in conference play.
Freshman Melanie Smith (Ft. Collins, Colo.) led the UB offense slamming 15 kills on Saturday. She was joined in double-digit kills by seniors Amanda Keller (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) with 13 and Emily Burford (Albuquerque, N.M.) with 11. Burford finished with a double-double on the afternoon, as she also recorded 11 digs for the winners.
Jaden Drollinger (Fr., Queens Creek, Az.) notched her twelfth of the 2021 season, as the outstanding facilitator dished off 42 assists to direct the Purple Knights' attack on offense and added 10 digs on defense.
Graduated student Amanda Hennemann (Nova Petropolis, Brazil) led the UB defense on Saturday with a total of 15 digs.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team will wrap up its road trip to Western New York at ECC-leading Diemen College on Sunday. Frist serve is set for an early 11:00 a.m.
