Bridgeport Volleyball Moves To 7-2 In Conference Play With A Home Sweep Of Molloy
Purple Knights Pick Up Sixth Straight Victory to Clinch A Spot In The ECC Championship Tournament, 25-17, 28-26, 25-22
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team got a bit of revenge on its home court on Thursday night, as the Purple Knights swept the visiting Molloy College Lions, 25-17, 28-26, 25-22. Earlier this season, Molloy topped UB in five sets on Long Island. Bridgeport, winners of six matches in a row, are now 14-8 overall and 7-2 in East Coast Conference play. The Lions slip to 10-12 overall and 5-4 in the ECC. Thursday's victory also clinches a spot in the 2021 East Coast Conference Championship Tournament for
Freshman Paola Hernandez (Bayamon, P.R.) led the Purple Knights' offense with 13 kills in the win. Senior Amanda Keller (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) continued her hot hitting of late, as she finished the match with 11 kills on 16 attacks with no errors for a .688 hitting percentage.
Freshman setter Jaden Drollinger (Queens Creek, Az.) registered double-double number of the season in the win over Molloy with 34 assists and 11 digs. She also chipped in five kills and two service aces for the winners.
Graduate student Amanda Hennemann (Nova Petropolis, Brazil) led the Purple Knights' backline with 13 digs.
After taking the weekend off, the UB women's volleyball team will return to action at home next Wednesday evening when the Purple Knights will host Bentley University in a non-conference contest in Hubbell Gym. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
