Four Purple Knights Reach Double-Digit Kills In The Win
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team posted its season-best fourth win a row with a four-set, 26-28, 27-25, 25-18, 25-21, home, East Coast Conference victory over the visiting Roberts Wesleyan College Redhawks in Hubbell Gym on Sunday afternoon. The triumph moves UB's overall record to 12-8, and the Purple Knights are now 5-2 in the ECC. RWC is now 1-17 overall and 0-8 in conference play.
Four Bridgeport players reached double-digit kills on Sunday led by senior Emily Burford (Albuquerque, N.M.) with 18. Emily was joined in double figures by classmate Amanda Keller (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) with 13 kills, as she finished the day with a hitting percentage of .550, plus on defense, Keller Chipped in five block assists, plus freshman Paola Hernandez (Bayamon, P.R.) with 12 kills and graduate student Amanda Hennemann (Nova Petropolis, Brazil) with 11 kills. Both Hennemann and Hernandez finished with double-doubles on the afternoon, as Amanda had 10 digs, plus she added five block assists, and Paola had a team-leading 11 digs.
Freshman setter Jaden Drollinger (Queens Creek, Az.) had her usual steady match dishing off 29 assists in the four sets, along with nine digs, five service aces, two kills and two block assists.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team will continue conference play with a trip to New York City to take on the Queens (N.Y.) College Knights on Tuesday evening. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
