Springfield, Mass.-It was a tough Tuesday night in the birthplace of volleyball and basketball for the UB women's volleyball team, as the Purple Knights fell in straight sets to the host American International College Yellow Jackets in Springfield Massachusetts, 21-25, 9-25, 8-25. UB is now 8-8 overall in 2021, and AIC ups its season mark to 14-6.
Freshman Paola Hernandez (Bayamon, P.R.) led Bridgeport with seven kills, and classmate Jaden Drollinger (Queens Creek, Az.) had 13 assists.
Two Purple Knights, graduate student Amanda Hennemann (Nova Petropolis, Brazil) with 12, and freshman Melanie Smith (Ft. Collins, Colo.) with 10, reached double-digit digs on Tuesday.
The UB women's volleyball team is right back in action on Wednesday night when the Purple Knights travel to Mercy College for an ECC match. First serve in Dobbs Ferry is set for 7:00 p.m.
