Volleyball Downed At Home By ECC-Leading Daemen
Purple Knights Return To The Court On Tuesday Night At AIC
Bridgeport, Conn.-It was a tough Sunday for the University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team, as the Purple Knights were swept at home by the conference-leading Daemen College Wildcats, 14-25, 16-25, 18-25. UB is now 8-7 overall and 3-2 in the East Coast Conference. Daemen remains unbeaten in the ECC at 5-0, and they are now 12-6 overall.
Senior Emily Burford (Albuquerque, N.M.) and freshman Melanie Smith (Ft. Collins, Colo.) led the Bridgeport offense with six kills apiece.
Freshman setter Jaden Drollinger (Queens Creek, Az.) finished with her straight double-double with 21 assists and a team-high 12 digs.
The Daemen offense played well on Sunday finishing with a .343 hitting percentage; while the Purple Knights struggled hitting just .120 on the day.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team hits the road to take on American International College on Tuesday night in Springfield, Massachusetts. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
