Volleyball Moves To 3-1 In ECC Play With Home Sweep Of D'Youville
UB Set To Host Daemen At 12 Noon On Sunday In Hubbell Gym
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team moved to 3-1 in East Coast Conference play on Saturday afternoon and snapped a two-match losing streak with a straight sets, 25-19, 25-19, 25-17, victory over the visiting D'Youville College Saints. UB is now 8-6 overall on the season. The Saints fall to 2-12 overall and are 1-3 in the ECC.
Freshman Melanie Smith (Ft. Collins, Colo.) led the Purple Knights' offense with 13 kills, as she hit .455 on the day, and senior Emily Burford (Albuquerque, N.M.) chipped in 12 hammers for the winners.
In the match, UB hit .340 as a team.
Freshman setter Jaden Drollinger (Queens Creek, Az.) finished with a double-double in the victory, as she dished off 28 assists and had a team-best 12 digs. She also had two kills and two block assists in the match.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team is right back in action in Hubbell Gym tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, October 10, as the Purple Knights host the Daemen College Wildcats in a key East Coast Conference contest at 12 noon.
