Volleyball Rolls To Straight Sets Road Win Over St. Rose
Offense in High Gear For The Victorious Purple Knights
Albany, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team got back on the right side of the ledger on Friday evening with a straight sets, 25-18, 25-15, 25-15, non-conference road win over the College of St. Rose Golden Knights in New York's capital city. UB is now 4-3 overall so fat in 2021, and St. Rose slips to 2-6.
Bridgeport's offense was clicking on all cylinders on Friday producing a season-high .396 attack percentage (48 k-10 e-96 ta), as the Purple Knights averaged 16 kills per set.
Senior Emily Burford (Albuquerque, N.M.) led UB with 13 kills and finished with a team-high 13 digs to net a double-double in the win.
Freshman Paola Hernandez (Bayamon, P.R.) also reached double figures in kills with 11.
Classmate Madison Jongsma (Sanford, Fla.) chipped in eight kills for winners.
Freshman setter Jaden Drolinger (Queens Creek, Az.) directed the UB offense to the tune of a match-high 37 assists.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball squad returns to Hubbell Gym on Tuesday night for a non-conference tussle with the Caldwell University Cougars. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m.
