Purple Knights Open Second Round Of ECC Volleyball Action With Home Sweep Over Molloy
UB Now 9-0 In The ECC And 16-7 Overall
Bridgeport, Conn/-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team remained unbeaten in East Coast Conference play with a 9-0 record, as the Purple Knights opened the second round of ECC play with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-19) home sweep over the visiting Molloy College Lions in Hubbell Gym on Tuesday night. The Purple Knights are now 16-7 overall, and the team has won fourth consecutive matches and 13 of their last 14 contests. Molloy falls to 4-17 overall, and the Lions are 2-7 in conference action.
UB junior Katarina Krstonosic (Kikinda, Serbia) led the winners with 15 kills, and she fell just shy of a double-double nine digs.
Bridgeport senior Sarah Rosa (Itajuba, Brazil) also fell just short of her own double-double with 13 kills and eight digs.
Junior Frida Randen (Sodertalje, Sweden) had a strong match for the winners chipping in eight kills and adding two block assists.
Freshman setter Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) directed the Purple Knights' offense nicely with 42 assists, and Rich also had two kills and two block assists on the night.
Junior libero Amelie Guinci (Cannes, France) notched a match-high 14 digs to lead the Bridgeport defense.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team will travel to Long Island for a key conference tilt at NYIT on Thursday night. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
