Purple Knights Complete Western New York Sweep With 3-0 ECC Women's Volleyball Win At Daemen
UB Finishes First Round Of Conference Play At 8-0
Amherst, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball completed a quick, two-match sweep of the East Coast Conference's Western New York schools on Saturday, as the Purple Knights defeated the host Daemen College Wildcats, 26-24, 25-13, 25-19. With the wins over Roberts Wesleyan on Friday and Daemen on Saturday, UB is now 5-7 overall and finished the first round of ECC play with an 8-0 mark. The Purple Knights has also now won 12 of their last 13 matches. The Wildcats are now 10-11 overall and 5-3 in conference play.
Junior Katarina Krstonosic (Kikinda, Serbia) led the Purple Knights with a double-double amassing 11 kills and 12 digs, plus she also adding four service aces.
Senior Sarah Rosa (Itajuba, Brazil) also reached double-digit kills with 10, and junior Sara Cruz (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) had a fine day with eight kills and eight digs,
Freshman settee Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) had 34 assists for the winners on Saturday, and junior Amelie Guinci (Cannes, France) led the UB defense with 14 gigs.
Up next, the Bridgeport women's volleyball team will begin the second round of conference play on Tuesday night when they host Molloy College on Tuesday night. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
