Women's Volleyball Rolls To Fourth Win In A Row With Home Sweep Of Stonehill
Purple Knights Now 10-2 On The Season
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team picked up its fourth consecutive victory and eighth win its last nine outings with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-10, 25-23) home sweep of the visiting Stonehill College Skyhawks in non-conference action on Tuesday night. UB is now 10-2 overall, and the Skyhawks fall to 12-10 in 2013.
Sophomore Sarah Rosa (Itajuba, Brazil) led the Purple Knights with a match-high 13 kills, and she notched a double-double with 10 digs which tied her for the team lead in that category on the evening with classmate Martina Santia (Sezze, Italy).
Junior Ying Shen (Nanjing, China) fell just shy of her ninth double-double of the year with 10 kills and nine digs.
Biljana Savic (Jr., Novi Sad, Serbia) gave her team a solid all-around match with 21 assists, nine kills, four digs and a pair of service aces and block assists.
Senior Fernanda Silva (Brasilia, Brazil) added 17 assists for the winners.
The UB volleyball team is back in action on Thursday night when they return to East Coast Conference action at Queens (N.Y.) College. Action is slated to get underway in Flushing, N.Y. at 7:00 p.m.
