Purple Knights Cannot Comeback From 2-0 Deficit For Second Straight Day
Rindge, N.H.-The University of Bridgeport volleyball team fell just short of rallying back from a 2-0 deficit for a win for the second straight day, as the Purple Knights lost a hard-fought, five setter at Franklin Pierce University on Saturday, 16-25, 20-15m 25-19, 25-16, 9-15. UB is now 2-1 overall on the young 2013 season, and the Ravens up their 2013 overall mark to 5-2.
Juniors Larissa Oliveira (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and Ying Shen (Nanjing, China) led four UB players in double-digit kills with 12. Shen registered her third straight double-double with a team-best 14 digs. Sophomore Sarah Rosa (Itajuba, Brazil) had 11 kills on the day, and freshman Frida Randen (Sodertalje, Sweden) had a season-best 10 kills for the Purple Knights, as she hit an impressive .450 on the day (10 k-1 e-20 ta).
Junior Biljana Savic (Novi Sad, Serbia) directed the Bridgeport offense with 27 assists, and she also had 11 digs.
The UB volleyball team is back in action on Tuesday night, October 1 at Dowling College in a key East Coast Conference match-up.
